A Few Things About Me
I’m a freelance content creator and social engagement consultant – writing for, and advising, businesses within recruitment, talent acquisition and HR.
I blog regularly for Broadbean Technology, Monster UK. and from many recruitment and HR conferences.
Conference speaker on social recruiting, using content for engaging talent and the future of recruitment. Also take part in panel debates covering everything from HR to the future of work.
Advisory board member for HR Directors Summit, Recruitment Agency Expo and In-House Recruitment Expo.
In my last employed role I was content and community manager for a major digital recruitment brand.
Before that I spent many years as a billing 3rd Party Recruiter. From rolodexes to databases, faxes to e-mails to social media I always tried to find great people for great companies in the HR, Finance, Sales & Marketing and Recruitment to Recruitment sectors.
I originally qualified as an accountant, but was bored and moved into recruitment after a career coach said that I was more suited to sales, PR or marketing!
Early in my recruitment career I set up an Accountancy Recruitment business that was voted Accountancy Recruiter of The Year by readers of an accountancy magazine.
In January 2009 I set up a Twitter account. It changed my life!
I started this blog in October 2009. In 2013 it was voted Recruitment Blog of the Year has also been voted one of the top 5 recruitment blogs in the UK
In 2010 I appeared on BBC News talking about how what you say on social media sites can impact on your job.
When not recruiting, networking, tweeting or blogging I am most passionate about Arsenal Football Club, music, politics and economics.
I have been described as an ‘encourager par excellence’ (by Doug Shaw and Alison Chisnell) and ‘a great conversationalist’ (by Maren Hogan). I am humbled by those descriptions but mention them as they probably sum up my approach best…it’s great to know it works!
